Winter Jammies...Finally!

I know, I know.  It's the END of winter (thank goodness!)  But I'm still gonna share these with you because they are just too darn cute!

I made these for the girls for their traditional Christmas Eve Jammies.  But I  lost temporarily misplaced put the memory card (with all the Christmas pictures on it) in a safe place and just brought it out to the light of day. Ha!

I know.  Not the best picture.  None of them were.
It was late on Christmas Eve.
Daddy wasn't home.
And the kids weren't feelin' too hot.
So we are making due with what I have!
But the cute jammies and cute kids make up for the lousy poses and extreme flash!
Don't they?
Starting with the wee one
This super silly kid ended up with some super silly pants.
After a lot of hair pulling and trying to figure out why she looked like she'd been riding a horse for way too long,  I realized I had sewn the pants wrong, so the waist ended up as the legs.
I took a couple of deep breaths,
Then moved on to the shirt.
Cassy has to be covered from neck to toe to sleep comfortably, so I added some sleeves to a t-shirt, then embellished it with some "snowflakes" that I cut out of the scraps of fabric.
Chey likes her pants extra long, like her Mommy.
(She's shaking her booty. This kid loves to dance.  She doesn't get that from Mommy or Daddy!)
I cut Charly's snowflake out with the Cricut.
This was another hair-pulling experience.
It didn't cut all the way through, so I had to cut it out with scissors.
But I love how it turned out!
Poor thing got sick during the night and had to change her shirt.
She was devastated!
I had to stay up and wash her shirt so she could put it back on to open presents in the morning.
I can't believe how big these kids are getting!
Kota's snowflakes wrap around to the back.
She thinks it is pretty awesome.
After the girls opened their fun jammies, we read our new Christmas book
Then I told them it was time to scurry off to bed.
Cassy, as usual, didn't want to hear it!
But, eventually, it was just me, Daddy, and the cat, waiting up for Santa....maybe it was just me and Daddy.
I'm pretty sure the cat was snoring at this point!
And Christmas morning excitement was made even more fun by these fun Winter Wonderland Jammies!

Accessories Shirt

I know you have already seen this, but I updated it.  Keep going to the bottom to see what I added!

You moms of girls, multiple girls, 4 girls to be exact, can sympathize.  Each holiday, they come out with cute new shirts that your little girl insists she needs (or you insist she needs.)  Then they wear it ONCE!  Gets expensive, huh?  Ever wish you could have one shirt that works for each holiday?  I did!  So I made one.
Confused yet?
I'll get to the point.
This cute shirt can be changed from sweet Valentine, to lucky St. Patrick's day fair, to a Hopping good Easter tee.  Okay, I'm gettin' a little cheesy here.  But you get the point now, right?    Want to make one?  You will need:      1 t-shirt, 3 sew on buttons, felt of choice, thread, and needle.
Measure your shirt to find the center, make a small mark with a pencil, then measure 2 1/2 inches from each side of middle and make marks.  This is where you will sew on the back of your button.
Separate the fronts and backs of your buttons and sew the backs on to your marks.

Your shirt should look like this.

Cut your design out of felt.  You need to have two pieces of felt, a front and a back, to cover up the threads from sewing on the buttons.  Sew the top of the button on before you sew the front felt on. Make sure the button is facing the right direction!  Or you end up having to un-stitch it and start over again...and again. It was a bad day.  Don't judge!
And you end up with a fun little Valentine's shirt that cost a whole lot less than store-bought, and you can change it out for the next holiday!  Yay!
Shirt: Already had ($3.50 at Walmart)
Felt:  4/$1 or 2/$1 depending on pattern (Hobby Lobby)
Buttons:  $1.49 for 10 (Hobby Lobby)
That made this project $6.00 with lots of felt left over to make more!
And it's only $2.50 if you already have the shirt!
Can't beat that!
I will post pictures of each of the upcoming "accessories" when I finish them.

Update:
I did get around to doing some for the other girls.  I just haven't had time to post them.
Here's Kota's

I only did one button on her's and Charly's (didn't get a picture of Charly's)
Isn't she the sweetest little Valentine?

And this one is Cassy's.
She hasn't actually worn her's yet.
I know, I know.  Valentine's has passed.  But we still have one more party coming up on Sunday.
My little cutie will be wearing this little cutie then!

Teacher Valentine

I have to admit, I kind of procrastinated this one (no big shock there!)  I was going to get a bag of Hershey's Treasures and put a little note on it that said "You are a real treasure", but when I went to the store, I couldn't find any treasures.  I was going to a different store this morning and see if I could find some.  But then I remembered that I had a couple of bags of Valentine M&Ms and a can of chalkboard spray paint, so...
I put a vinyl heart on an empty jam jar, then sprayed it with a few coats of chalkboard paint.
After the paint dried for about an hour, I peeled the heart off so that you could see what was in the jar.
After I rubbed it down with some chalk and wiped it off,
Miss Bear wrote her teacher's name on it
And signed her name on the lid.
I love it!
It helps that it is filled with my favorite treat!
One of the regular sized bags fit perfectly in this fun little jar...
...too bad.  I was hoping for a few left overs to sneak!

I guess I'll just have to tear open the other bag...

Taco Soup--It's Mmm, Mmm, MMM, Good!

I am not a big soup lover, but this is simple to make and tastes fantastic!

I found the recipe in my World Wide Ward Cookbook, but I changed it a little for my family's taste.

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (can substitute 2 tbsp. dehydrated onion)
  • 1/4 c. taco seasoning (more or less to taste)
  • 2-8 oz. cans tomato sauce
  • 2 quarts tomato juice
  • 2-15 oz. cans whole-kernel corn, drained
  • 2-10 oz. cans Ro-Tel
  • 1-15 oz. can kidney beans, undrained
  • 1-15 oz. can pinto beans, undrained
  • Cheese, grated
  • Sour Cream
  • Tortilla Chips
Brown ground beef with onion and taco seasoning.  Add all other ingredients except the cheese, sour cream, and tortilla chips. Salt and pepper to taste.   Let simmer.  Serve with cheese, sour cream, and tortilla chips.

Hope you love it as much as we do.
We can't keep our hands off it!
